Sens openly mock Caps on Twitter

07:51 AM ET 01.22 | A pair of national capitals met Tuesday night, with Ottawa taking away a 2-0 win from the Capitals, who have now lost six straight. If that wasn't bad enough, the Senators official Twitter feed sent quite the insult as the team left town. "@Senators: Always a pleasure to visit the other nation's capital when we leave with two points. #ThanksObama" The tweet immediately gained a lot of attention, and fans of both teams reacted expectedly. Caps fans thought the Ottawa tweet over the line, while Sens fans thought it was funny, and worse, accurate. It should be noted the Caps played the game without their best player and current NHL leading goal scorer Alex Ovechkin, but the folks in charge of the Senators Twitter account failed to mention that.

Where is Ovie?

Back home in Mother Russia hunting Black Widows?

I don't understand. Is the President a hockey fan?

As a hockey fan living in Caps territory, it's pretty sad around here. Most people here don't give a ripe turd about hockey, and the ones that do love hockey - at least all the ones I know - are so apathetic to the Caps it's not funny. And none of them speak highly of Ovechkin, which also kind of surprises me.

Who cares, it's the Sens. Classless all around.

He's been in the White House for 5 years now and hasn't been to a single game, and made the Kings split their WH visit with the MLS champs, so I'd say no.

Yup... pretty far down his list of to-do activities.

Why has that surprised you? Ovi is incredibly gifted with his shot, but without the puck his game is horrible. Since Defenseman have figured out his schtick, he hasnt had nearly as much success rushing the puck up ice. He has become Mr. One Timer.

The Caps organization goes and pins the C on him as well. No surprise with his demise.

I watched the game last night. If I had a Twitter account I'd openly mock them too.

I live in DC too and I don't get that vibe at all. Since the Caps have been playing better hockey over the past few years, the entire hockey scene in the area has boomed. I don't think what you're saying about OV is true either. I think a guy like Mike Green gets more crap than OV.
