07:32 AM ET 01.23 | At one point not all that long ago, Greg Monroe was an untouchable asset. The road from franchise cornerstone to trade bait is indeed a short one. ... Enter the emergence of Andre Drummond and the signing of Josh Smith, and suddenly he's the subject of trade speculation. Asked Wednesday if it bothered him, Monroe said: "It does, to be honest, especially when we're trying to still get things right here, to see that stuff. I just try to focus on what we're doing here, and I'm here. If that changes, then I'll move forward, but until then or if it never does, I'm just going to focus on playing these games and trying to win these games." A media report suggests that the Wizards are prepared to make a push for Monroe, but it definitely would be a situation of the Pistons selling low.

He did and he is still honest about the situation. It's tough to concentrate when your name is always mentioned in the trading block.

oh, I agree, especially for kids
and he was on an upward climb after his first couple years
now- they basically stunted his growth

whatever team he goes to will be getting a solid piece.

He would be really great in Dallas. They've never had a post player like him.

Anyone else see this Kid landing with the Celtics?I think the Celtics, Suns and Bobkittens have a good chance to land this kid because they have the assets.Especially Phoenix with multiple #1's and young Front Court players.But, I still say Kitten and Suuuuuuuuuuuuuper Celtics team trades Rondo for Jennings, Monroe and a #1.....probably more.

I say Celtics unless Ainge wants to pay back McHale for giving him KG...

Not really......the Pistons brought in Smith (a 'tweener' forward) to play the small forward position.

While some aspects of his game/skill set translate to the SF position, he has some glaring issues at that spot:
Can't create a shot off the dribble while facing the basket;
Limited shooting range;
Can't defend most SF's on the perimeter.

He's just better suited for the PF position.
