07:41 AM ET 01.23 | In a way, Minnesota won twice this week, including a denial from athletic director Norwood Teague that he is a candidate for the same position at Virginia Tech. According to a report on Rivals.com, Teague is one of three finalists for that job, along with Jeff Bourne, the athletic director of James Madison, and Mike Chismar, senior associate athletic director for Arizona State. "I never was a candidate for Virginia Tech. I truly love it here," Teague said in a statement released by the university after the Gophers basketball team upset No. 9 Wisconsin 81-68 at Williams Arena. In an earlier text message to the Star Tribune, Teague wrote he "was contacted several months ago but declined involvement." Teague was hired as Gophers athletic director to succeed Joel Maturi on April 23, 2012.
