07:38 AM ET 01.24 | Bob Stoops may have some more toys to play with this coming season. The Sooners picked up a commitment from 6-1, 175-pound athlete Jordan Thomas from Klein, TX, which helped continue the program's upward trend as we head to [National Football Post]. Thomas, who had offers from Oklahoma State and Nebraska, has the quickness and athleticism to make plays at receiver and on special teams but also has experience at corner and safety. [Stoops] and his staff have assembled a class with a ton of skill players on offense, highlighted by Joe Mixon. Mixon is a national Top 5 to 10 running back from California. Wide receivers Dallis Todd and Jeffery Mead as well as tight ends Carson Meier and Mark Andrews are also in the mix. It will be interesting to see if OU can snag some defensive help, though.

They have Tito Windham from Harrison Central in Gulfport...plays CB and is a pretty good player. Rated 3*, but I think he's better (OK..just a bit biased)...

Question to you Lone Star Staters: We have long heard about Charley's recruiting ability. Two weeks into the job is he making an impact?

Any big signings or flips yet?

Beats me BB. I don't follow the recruiting very much....but I do know that too many leave the frickin' state!

I also know that among the Texas HS football coaches, Briles is the most respected and has the best relationship with them. We'll see if that turns into anything. It seems that doesn't matter as much nowadays.

They want a chance at winning a NC so they will go to SEC or OU....

Correct. Its mostly been about keeping the class together at this point, establishing relationships with recruits, commits, HS coaches and picking up a few commits. Once MB and Co. left they lost 3 DLs and a WR with about 5 others now visiting campuses. Should pick up a couple of DLs, retain the visitors and are still working on the WR.

Only time will tell but early returns are good. He's mostly been offering OOS guys he was recruiting at Louisville.

Has to get those HS Coaches on his side....

OU is having a banner recruiting year, some already on campus. Receivers will have to help ASAP.

Would be nice if Poona, Alaka, Knox, would commit.

He was in BR the other day trying to bump on RB Darius Guice who is a big time RB for 2015

I ain't biting on that one...cuz, it has been true lately. Closest a Texas school has come in many moons was TCU when they got screwed. Nothing even close since then.

Banner recruiting? most services have it in the 15-20 range.

5 years ago sooners were perennial top 10-12. Lowered expectations?

If one of those commits, then it will be a successful 3 weeks as a recruiter. Alaka staying and another would just be gravy.

How long ago was that OU MNC?

Poona will I believe, Alaka is already committed but he is fighting sumlin for the final sig and Knox will not likely be coming to austin. Meyer gave him the riot act when he said he was visiting this weekend.

They are working OOS right now in a big way. Offered CeCe J, Guice and a few others. Working what he knows while he works on in state relationships. Makes sense.

Guido and FJ: what's your take on Strong dismissing the entire 2016 commit class?

and ... with Strong's history of coaching them up ... do you think unheralded recruits like Roderick Bernard can be coached/developed to help fill the DaJae void?
