08:52 AM ET 01.25 | Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett are considering resolving their disagreement over who should be the team's offensive playcaller with a compromise: They're discussing hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, according to league sources. One source who expects Linehan to be hired speculated he could have the title of passing game coordinator while also being designated the Cowboys' playcaller. If so, Linehan would become the third different offensive playcaller in three seasons in Dallas, following Garrett and current offensive coordinator Bill Callahan. In a setup one source described as "strange" and "dysfunctional," Garrett ceded play-calling authority to Callahan a year ago in what appeared to be a change mandated by Jones, who is also the team's general manager.

That Would Be Lose-Lose, Bros.

Just another example of Jerry having no clue about what he wants the team to be.

Wow..a DC/OC combo of Kiffin and Linnehan. CAN IT GET ANY WORSE?

January 25, 2014  09:32 AM ET

With a defense giving up 600 yards a game it doesn't matter who's calling the offense.

My sympathies, Otis.

J.J. doesn't make it easy on his fans, does he?

Isn't 2014 the last year of Garrett's deal?

If he has any dignity remaining at the end of his current deal, he needs to get the heck away from Circus Dallas.

He knows exactly what he wants to the team be... the most valuable NFL franchise in the league. $2.3B is nothing to sneeze at, and it seems like all other considerations are secondary.

Yep. He's free after this next season.

Free.

All that would be missing is a plaque on his desk with that title on it.

It'll take him awhile to get that beaten dog look off his face.

At least he can finally see light at the end of that long, dark, tunnel.

I'm sure Jerry will be a big help with that.

I think it will disappear when he leaves Valley Ranch for the last time.
