Martin St. Louis' scoring binge answer to Olympics snub?

09:58 AM ET 01.25 | Tampa Bay Lightning captain Martin St. Louis, who led the NHL in scoring last season, was not one of the players selected. The exclusion was particularly noteworthy because Team Canada's executive director is Steve Yzerman, who also happens to be the general manager of the Lightning. St. Louis has played nine games since the snub, and what he has done is truly remarkable. The same night the team was named, Yzerman's Lightning played against the Jets in Winnipeg. St. Louis played more than 24 minutes; he scored two goals, including the third-period winner. In the eight games since, he has not played fewer than 20 minutes in any contest and he has not yet failed to record at least one point.

Dumbest decision so far this hockey season and I'm including the Kessel/Mrs. Pinch contracts.

I keep wondering, why would Steve 'Y' snub his best player?

Saving him for the stretch run?

It wasn't Stevie and I think instead of fighting the whole group he just figured he'd slot Marty in when Stammer didn't make it.

Makes sense but, if that's true, it greatly diminishes his credibility as Canada's GM. Would he really do that? All the other GMs should be up in arms ... if it's true. After all, why would Shero want to run the risk of an injury to Crosby when the GM of Team Canada won't expose his player to the same risk?

As a traveler of both time and space, I can see that:)

So he gets a 2 week holiday to go away with his family. Let's see, he doesn't have to travel all the way to Russia. He doesn't have to endure the finest in "two holer" toilets. He doesn't have to worry about terrorist women blowing themselves up. He doesn't have to wear that ugly uni.

He won the freakin' lottery!!!!!!!!!!

Judging by his response on the ice ... he doesn't seem to think so.

The Russians in their wisdom, made the "two holer" toilets for the Sedin twins. One of the handles is probably up, the other down.
