10:25 AM ET 01.25 | If you think there's a chance the Vikings might trade running back Adrian Peterson, general manager Rick Spielman rejected the hypothetical this week. "Adrian's not going anywhere," Spielman said on Pro Football Talk. "We've got him under contract. He's the face of our franchise. He is a blue chip player, and we have a new coaching staff coming in place and very excited about what's coming ahead for us." Of course, Spielman said those exact words about former head coach Leslie Frazier during the season. He also said he had "no intent" of a trade involving former wide receiver Percy Harvin, who will play in the Super Bowl for the Seahawks.

Careful Ricky, you can stop him 5, 6, 7 times but then he breaks one.

Nice trade bait though. Remember Hershel Walker? HA!

Dear Mr. Spielman. You could not trade the guy if you wanted to. YOu would want a lot in return, but more than that, he is still due $55 million over the next four years and would count $12 to $16 million against a teams cap each of those years. And no, though it is not all guaranteed money, you don't trade talent for him and then cut him as a cap casualty....

He CAN'T go anywhere. He is yours....

January 25, 2014  10:48 AM ET

With the way he runs, he's got two more good seasons in him tops.

I'd trade him next year. Otherwise you're going to get nothing for him.

Look at Jamaal Lewis. The best one year, traded 2 years later to the Browns. Going to the Browns is like stepping into a time machine... you just disappear

He's not going anywhere. He's the only reason fans still sell out the games.

I liken the Browns to a black hole. Players go in and never come out.

Vikings GM: Adrian Peterson is 'not going anywhere'. Certainly won't be going to any SBs if he stays with the Vikings. So that part is true.

Kinda like the Eagles, if they want to go to the super bowl, they gotta buy a ticket

And Dallas. And Oakland. And Cleveland. And Tampa. Etc.

The list goes on.

True. Mike Tice isn't there anymore to scalp tickets.

Don't sully a great song by attributing it to the Browns.

It will be interesting to see how well he runs outdoors for the next couple of seasons.
