11:19 AM ET 01.26 | Rockets GM Daryl Morey told season ticket holders Friday that they expect Omer Asik to remain a Rocket for the duration of his contract, not just this season. The veteran center signed with Houston in 2012 expecting to be the starting center, a situation that altered when the Rockets signed Dwight Howard last summer. An upset Asik demanded a trade, then reasserted that request earlier this season. The Rockets attempted to trade the Turkish big man, even setting a deadline, but saw no offer good enough to prompt a move.

With the unrealistic demands they valued him at
I bet they didn't really want to move him in the first place

Bad situation all around. Bad for his career trajectory and bad for the Rockets having so much money tied up in him. It goes up to 15 milliom next season. That's a lot for somebody they aren't using.

There has to be a better solution.

I bet Omer will have a much bigger role to play come playoffs. Howard kinda gets into this 2-foul 1st quarter mode a LOT.

I think there were offers for him, including from the Celtics but the Rockets didn't pull the trigger.

They'll trade him by the deadline. Even if it means settling for less than what they want. His disgruntled behaviour may be detrimental to the team-play if he were "forced" to play.

Sucks to be Omer.

Good for their azzez they called themselves out smarting the knicks and Bulls by overloading the end of the contracts to Asik and Lin and now nobody wants to take that salary cap hit. Now that they are stuck with both of them good for their ****.
