Miller's days numbered in Buffalo

07:42 AM ET 01.27 | Tick-tock. Ryan Miller's days in Buffalo are likely numbered. While Sabres general manager Tim Murray is still trying to get the lay of land after taking over the post earlier this month, the whispers are getting louder that Miller won't be sticking around after the trade deadline and there's a school of thought he could be gone before the Olympic break. The number of teams in the market for a goalie is limited though, which means Murray may not have many options. The St. Louis Blues have been mentioned, but GM Doug Armstrong has emphatically backed goalie Jaroslav Halak. One possible landing spot is the Minnesota Wild and there may be interest there from general manager Chuck Fletcher. Goaltender Josh Harding is sidelined indefinitely because of complications with his MS.

No reason not to trade.... He'll fetch a couple of decent pieces for the impending overhaul

The Ottawa Sun is a tick behind the times. We've been saying for over a year on these boards that Miller would fit in Minnesota or St. Louis.

Actually 33 isn't that old for a comeback, he could probably shine for a certain Midwest team:)

Only if Miller waives his NTC. So far, he hasn't shown an inclination to do so, thus severely limiting the Sabres options.

Never too old for FN to post a rumor about it.

Miller has a modified NTC. He can block trades to 8 teams. He's said previously that he doesn't want to play in Canada, so there's 7 of the 8 right there.

So a Minny or St. Louis trade makes sense.

I'd love to a trade to bring him to St. Louis. The Blues aren't going to win a Cup with the Halak/Elliot combo. Might as well give it a run with Miller.

If he doesn't want to play in Canada I'm thinking Minny would be the 8th team
