Uncertainty looming over Eli

07:11 AM ET 01.30 | While his brother has the Super Bowl to worry about on the near horizon, Eli Manning has his own concerns a little farther out. Manning said Wednesday the uncertainty of what new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's West Coast scheme will look like has made for an offseason like none other in his 10-year NFL career. "It's really my first time going into an offseason not knowing exactly what you're doing," Manning said at an Upper East Side sponsor appearance. "I mean, we're going to have a new offense. I'm not worried about that, but there's going to be extra work to make sure it works." Manning said he met with McAdoo before Tom Coughlin hired the former Packers assistant, an indication Manning had at least some input into the decision to have McAdoo replace the retired Kevin Gilbride.

Didn't look like he knew what he was doing on the field last season, so.....

Ben McAdoo was a career-long assistant coach. This is his first Offensive Coordinator job. And he spent his last two years as QB coach for Green Bay.

Why would they go after this guy? He didn't make Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was elite before McAdoo got to Green Bay. And if anything, Matt Flynn regressed.

I'm surprised they didn't hire a more experienced candidate.

LOL.........Ten yrs. to figure that out.

lol,.....what ''uncertainty'''...?!,.....you're still over-paid/collecting $16-mill/yr. and you're UNCERTAIN.....??!

That is what mini camp is for, regular practice, and exhibition games are to study and learn to perform the new offense in NY.

Did I read this incorrectly? After what he did during the 2013 season, is he actually COMPLAINING about the prospect of extra work?

January 30, 2014  08:44 AM ET

QUOTE(#2):

He needs receivers who can catch the ball....that was most of his problems last season.

PFW noted he was sacked, hit or pressured 40% of the time when he dropped back to pass. A lot of it up the middle, no place to step up and throw. He lost confidence in his OL, then his receivers and then himself. Add in no running game and it was a perfect storm.

Yes, you read it incorrectly. "...but there's going to be extra work to make sure it works."

Substitute a word like "time" for example and read it again. It was a definitive statement.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Last season, Eli should've just pooch punted on third down rather than allow long returns on his INTs.

Nobody looked like they knew what they were doing. McAdoo is ready, and brings a fresh set of eyes to mix. They'll be better.

No one ever questioned his work ethic or conduct outside of the game. Some will never accept that he just plain played better than the opposing QBs in two playoff runs and two superbowls.

It is not about who is the best team or who is the best player. It never was. It is about who plays the best on the day of the game. Two separate entities. Once that reality sinks in, then everything makes sense.

The oc needs to remind eli what color jerseys the giants are wearing that day. He seemed to forget a lot lately, and i'm a giants fan

McAdoo is a good choice. Change is inevitable in the NFL. If he succeeds, do not be surprised in two years to see him become the next HC of the team. The Cowher concept has passed. A few years ago it made sense, not anymore.
