07:39 AM ET 01.30 | Yes, in Wednesday's 2-1 loss at Yankee Stadium, the line of Kyle Okposo, John Tavares and Thomas Vanek combined for 15 shots on goal. [But] head coach Jack Capuano couldn't help but critique that prolific trio. "I'm not going to single certain guys out, but I think that line knows they can be better," Capuano said. "I think we talked about it before with them. They tried to do a little too much. Less is more. You know, (Vanek) was in front of the goalie, Lundqvist, a few times and we never generated pucks through to him." ... While Capuano saw room for improvement, Okposo - Tavares - Vanek left New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault gushing once again. "That top line is one of the most dynamic lines I've seen in this game," Vigneault said.

On the broadcast last night, they showed a graphic where Tavares and Okposo are in the nHL leading scorers since Dec 17.

In my book, this makes Capuano an idiot. NYI are going nowhere if this is all they can offer as a coach.

Capuano is an idiot. I've been saying this since last season; The Isles won't be able to get to the next level in the NHL if they consistently keep an AHL staff behind the bench.

This would be like Carlyle calling out Kessel-Bozak-JVR when literally 80% of the Leafs' offence is coming from that line. He doesn't, and wouldn't, because he knows its on him to get the other lines firing for nights that things don't particularly work out for the top line. This? If I'm Snow i'm canning Capuano today for being this dumb.

i agree. This is also not taking into account that The Rangers also played a pretty good game on the back line....

Capuano should be slapped.... ANY coach would love having this line playing for their team.. and Spiny is right...the Rangers looked pretty good last night

I find it ironic that Jack doesn't know jack.

I'm not really a Rangers or an Isles fan, plus, I'm a little burnt out on the outdoor game hoopla for this season, so I only caught the 3rd period of the game but that Isles top line looked really good in what I saw. It just looked like the Rangers were playing pretty good D and Lundqvist is starting to regain his form.

January 30, 2014  09:42 AM ET

The line is good! JT is crazy when he starts operating from behind the net. He threads passes through feet, sticks and falling bodies......he is def. special to watch.

Or that they were already used to the conditions given that they played in a replica game 3 days earlier, whereas the Isles only practised the day before. But nah, Jack. Obviously it's Johnny and Kyle's fault.

It's amazing Capuano still has a job. Amazing.

Perhaps Capuano sees some room for improvement on the defensive end if the ice? There is some evidence to support that considering Tavares and Okposo are second and sixth in the league in scoring but both are -4.

True. But it's also amazing Snow still has a job.

I was at the game last night and have no idea what went on. It was cool to go to, but I won't be going again. I think the novelty of these games will wear off in a few years and people will stop going.

Part of the reason for the minus' is b/c they are on the ice for empty net goals. The Isles are constantly down by 1 with a few minutes to go. So you pull the goalie and put your top line out there.

Also, fire Cappy. He is the worst.

A few years? How about by the end of this season? It's overkill. If it continues like this then pretty soon the indoor games will become the novelty.

True. Without the crowd into the game, it loses some of the feel. But the 100K at Michigan was cool.

Honestly, I thought the alumni games were more special and exciting than the Winter Classic.

Can't wait for the ultra-exciting Nashville Predators at Florida Panthers alumni game and Winter Classic at the Daytona Speedway!

Watch the old and not so old timers was fun at CoAmerica. And yes, they are going overboard, now Glendale is talking.
