How Wilson was nearly an Eagle

07:22 AM ET 01.31 | Thankfully, for Philly fans, there's a capable Nick Foles, but it could have been different. It's become the stuff of legend, how close the Eagles were to drafting Russell Wilson. A year ago that miss looked like a fatal mistake. Now, not so much, even though the second-year quarterback will be playing against the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. ... The Eagles passed on Wilson in the second round, watched the Seahawks snatch him early the next round, and ended up taking Foles 13 picks later. "Yeah, there was definitely tons of interest from the Eagles and several other teams," Wilson said this week. "I had met with them several times and all that. I liked where the Eagles were from. I'm from the East Coast, so it wasn't far away from home."

If there was that much interest from the Eagles they would've drafted him. Next.

You are one win away from your defense putting you in the Super Bowl QB Club deserving or not.

who cares

I don't think the Eagles are disappointed that they are 'stuck' with Nick Foles and I don't think Russell Wilson is disappointed that he traveled all the way from Seattle to play in the east coast hosted Super Bowl.

Don't sugarcoat it, man.

Russell needs rhinoplasty on that ugly honker.

Interesting that Barkley was the anointed one, the numer 1 QB recruit when he chose USC, while Foles quietly went to Az and got into the NFL based on measurables. Now look who's starting and who's sitting.

Losers - hardly. The Phillies won a WS recently, the Eagles were in the SB recently and have done well and the Flyers have won a few cups and went to the SC not too long ago. Based on your avatar I'd guess you're an overweight mammas boy from Texas and you don't like anyone that's not from the state. Whoo bad boy and I do mean boy!

BushIsRight (you know by his name that he's less than intelligent) has nothing else going for him in life, so he spends his days trolling on a sports forum bashing a city he's never been to, nor could he ever survive in.

Philadelphia ended up with the better quarterback. Russell Wilson ended up on the better team.

It was a win/win for everyone involved.

I'll agree Philadelphia ended up with the better pocket passer, but the jury is far from in on who will have the most impressive career. Wilson's work ethic is incredible and his skills have barely been tapped. And I'm a big fan of Nick Foles, too.
