07:27 AM ET 01.31 | Well-traveled Bruce Chen is returning to his most recent MLB home of Kansas City. Chen, a left-hander, ranks among the Royals' most versatile pitchers. After serving as a starter for most of first five seasons, Chen opened last season in the bullpen as a long reliever. But in mid-July, he replaced Luis Mendoza in the rotation, and Chen delivered. In 15 starts, Chen went 6-4 with a 3.61 ERA and opponents hit .222 against him. He went 9-4 on the season. He could be a candidate as the Royals' fifth starter this year or return to the bullpen. The rotation figures to include James Shields, Jason Vargas and Jeremy Guthrie, along with candidates Danny Duffy, Wade Davis, Yordano Ventura and perhaps Luke Hochevar. Chen, the second-longest-tenured Royals pitcher behind Hochevar, gives the Royals flexibility.

Amazing how this guy saved his career, seems like it was yesterday that the Braves gave up on him and his highly touted stuff

If every game he pitched was against the Tigers, he'd win the Cy Young. The guy has had our number for a while now.

QUOTE(#1):

This guy got winded down the stretch after joining the rotation; it was just a matter of getting the book out. His ERA and WHIP grew significantly as the second half wore on. This could end up the worst rotation in the AL.

Chen has grow old in the Royals rotation, but whenever any other starter collapse at the mid-season?
there is always Chen to saved,,
