05:27 PM ET 01.31 | As the NHL trade winds continue to swirl, reports are surfacing that the New York Rangers are interested in acquiring St. Louis Blues right winger Chris Stewart. This season, Stewart has 15 goals and 25 points through 52 games, but he has been inconsistent in the first year of his two-year, $8.3 million extension. For the Rangers, Ryan Callahan has been a name that they have floated around in previous trade rumors, so so they would be wise to get something in return for him before he hits the open market as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

A lot of teams would be interested in Chris Steward. The Blues can shop him around and get a good return for him. The only negative is his hefty contract.

Don't see much interest in this guy, 3rd liner maybe.

But for his contract, I'd have him on my team any day.

That's an understatement. I took him in one of my pools and didn't realize how inconsistent he is, like bagging 5 points in one game and then you don't hear from him again for 3 weeks.

Hope the Rangers get more then 1 player for Callahan

It seems to be a recurring problem with many players immediately after signing that big contract. They struggle mightily. It's like all of a sudden they think they have to be Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux all rolled into one and forget who they were and what got them the big contract to begin with. As soon as they rediscover themselves, their game improves.

I think it's called pressure to perform and, if it wasn't for the aid of a trusted little blue friend, I'd be under-performing too. ;-)

My "brave" days are far behind me, my friend. Most days I'm just lucky I'm still breathing.

Stewart's a very good player, and deserves the money he's getting - Callahan's a better player.
Sather has been butchering his way along for decades, and relying on dumb owners willing to spend their way around his putzicity - Callahan contract has been a botch job as he should have been the priority instead of the Nash Rambler fiasco. Don't know what they pay Slats, but whatever it is, it's too much. The guy lucked his way into Gretzky-land, when the Jets owner passed on paying 1 M for him, and benefitted from John Ferguson's unbounded hubris when he passed on Messier 'cause he knew who was tougher and better. With those two in Jets uniforms instead of sOilers ones, I'm willing to bet The Glen would be back on the farm, collecting CPP and Old-age Security now

Looks like Weber is okay t'go to So-chic - two goals last night - Preds continue to hang in. To the guys writing off the Jets two days ago (Wpg FP etc) - all they have to do now is win three more games than Pre-daters, Dullas Stars, Can'tucks, and the Coy-oats for 8th place, or four more including the Miniscrota Wildeebeats for 7th.
