06:41 PM ET 01.31 | New Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong is preparing to enter his first season in Austin, but he better not get too familiar with the practice facilities because they could be getting a facelift in the near future. According to reports, the Longhorns are interested in building a two-story, indoor practice facility because everything is bigger in Texas.

And the arms race continues to escalate.

Why do they need an indoor facility?
Isn't the weather in Austin the best in the country?
;)

Everything, especially their EGOS!

Status symbol would be my guess.

This has to be just in case of bad weather i.e. lightening, hail, etc. If they don't practice a lot outdoors in the gawd awful Texas August heat, they damn sure won't be ready for it during the early season games. The opponents will think they are even more "country club" than they are already perceived.

Speaking of indoor practice facilities, question for you DFW guys.

Scuttlebutt is that JJ is building new practice facilities in Frisco cuz he's embarrassed that his beloved cowgirls have to use HS indoor practice facilities at Coppell or Grapevine-Colleyville when necessary. Any truth to that scuttlebutt?

The current indoor practice facility (the bubble) is not close to DKR or the Moncreif Athletics Center. Players dress at Moncreif and take a shuttle bus to/from the bubble.

The new indoor practice facility will built on the same location as the bubble.

If they're going to spend money why not build it adjacent to the Moncreif Center? I guess exising real estate is in the way.

And I would be remiss if I didn't continue my ongoing tirade against FanSided. What a lousy excuse for journalism or even relevant information.

Kentucky is also planing to build a new 2 story indoor practice facility. You don't learn this kind of stuff reading Fansided.

Fansided sucks quad.

They spend a lot of time during the summers inside the practice bubble already.

That place is so ugly ... bubble surronded by brick walls.

What are you saying? Dallas has the Cowboys and Austin has the Bubble Boys?"

Have heard of the new practice facilities being built in a new location. Not sure where they have practiced since their tent blew down several years ago.

Well, if the new coach won't attract any new recruits, maybe the practice facility will.
