10:35 AM ET 02.01 | Political and social unrest in Russia is not going to stop John Tavares from fully embracing his first Olympic experience. Starting on Feb. 9, the NHL will shut down for two weeks and Tavares will be off to Sochi, where the Islanders star center will play for Team Canada. With a turbulent climate that includes a heightened terror alert and policy-driven discrimination against homosexuals, Tavares is bringing along six guests, including his parents, his sisters and his girlfriend.

The weather in Sochi this week is supposed to be in the upper 40s to low 50s and partly cloudy after today. I'd take that kind of winter.

We're getting our 40th snowstorm today and we just went through another week of 0 degree fah. weather.

Could be worse. You could live in Atlanta where they have some really nasty snowstorms.

I seriously hope nothing happens, but I'm not sure I'd risk my family!!
