Manning rattled by 'embarrassing' question

07:23 AM ET 02.03 | It's over, and, afterward, Peyton Manning could merely look back at another Super Bowl loss, this one a drubbing at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. Julius Thomas, the Broncos tight end, defended Manning, correctly saying that he was the reason the Broncos were in the Super Bowl in the first place. But Manning has now lost two of the three Super Bowls he has played in, and has thrown pick sixes in each of those losses. Manning was asked afterward if this kind of performance was embarrassing to him. "It's not embarrassing," he said, in a rare flash of irritation. "I would never use that word. The word embarrassing is an insulting word, to tell you the truth." This, though, seemed more devastating than the one to the Saints four years ago.

I thought the first play from scrimmage was a bit embarrassing.

This should settle it. Peyton is simply not as good as his brother

Yeah why wasn't Peyton making some plays on defence and special teams?? Sure he set a record for completions but he should have just won it single handed

Embarrassing is the perfect word to describe Denver's performance yesterday.

Bad news for the rest of the league - the Seahawks are just getting started. The parallels with the Cowboys of the 90's are striking.

Except they don't have a owner/GM that's gonna get drunk, fire his coach and declare himself a football savant.

There is nothing to be ashamed about by getting beat by the best defensive team in football. They should be favored to win their division and get back into the playoff race this year. A lot of factors will determine if they make it to the big game again - draft picks, free agency signings, and over coming key injuries during the season.

they should thank their lucky *stars* up there in Seattle that they don't.

Depends on how they deal with their cap and all those free agents they have about to hit the market and what kind of deal they give to Wilson when he comes up for a new contract. Percy Harvins base salary next year could be crippling. Hard to keep any team together anymore. And after winning yesterday each one of those guys thinks they deserve top dollars.

49ers are not that far behind them. Not at all.
