07:31 AM ET 02.03 | What's next? Alabama and Auburn have engaged in some heated recruiting battles throughout the years, but the battle for five-star Rashaan Evans has taken the two coaching staffs to a unusual recruiting battleground: the dance floor. According to Evans' father, Alan Evans, coaches from both Alabama and Auburn attended the five-star athlete's grandfather's 80th birthday party on Saturday night at a hotel in Auburn along with nearly 200 other friends and family members. "When we got to the party about eight o'clock it was a packed house at the hotel," Evans told AL.com. "We walked in and the first people we saw was the entire Auburn staff standing there on our left and to my right was Kirby Smart and the Bama staff. ... Then the live band started playing and the Alabama and Auburn coaches hit the dance floor."

Deja vu all over again.

UTK lock.

Coaches from both schools were invited to the party. They didn't "crash" it.

Did Kirby Smart slip the band leader $$ to play the 'Bama fight song?

The party was in Auburn?

And, where is the video of the dancing? There must be video somewhere!

Temporary hijack.

WPS, you've seen pig aggie hoops for years so I assume you are watching them this year. Is the SEC hoops as bad as the pundits say? i.e. only Kentucky and Florida will probably get in the tourney.

I tend to always view these things with a jaded eye....if they hype a conference I tend to think it ain't as good as hyped...and if they diss a conference I tend not to think they are as bad as they say.

At least the conference champion and the conference tournament winner will go to the NCAA. Not sure after that.

DC, the SEC basketball teams are not good, esp Arkansas. I do think there is some blow-back due to the love-fest for the conference in CFB ("we're sick of the SEC...hey they are not as good in basketball, so let's run them down and feel better about ourselves"), but overall, the league is well-behind Big 12, B1G, and others.

Regionally, the best athletes are pushed to play football, not basketball and have to choose one over the other (and this starts at about 6th grade). Same social pressures that make it fertile recruiting for football hurt the basketball recruits.

League has some good athletes and some good coaches, but no depth in either area. Ky and Fla are the exceptions to this. I do think LSU and Mizzou are good enough to compete in the NCAA tournament, but the negative perception may keep them out.

SEC Basketball = B1G Football..........

Thank. I watched the Bama/LSU game the other night and didn't think they were all that bad. Not great by any means...but not awful either.
