07:31 AM ET 02.05 | Even with Hall of Fame honors, Nancy Lieberman remains a groundbreaker at heart. Lieberman is now the assistant general manager for the NBA Development League's Texas Legends. She also serves as a pregame and postgame TV analyst for the Oklahoma City Thunder, working out of a studio in Dallas. "My goal in the next year or two is to be coaching in the NBA," she said. "I'm sure there's a lot of people that go, 'That's not going to happen.' I don't want to coach in the NBA because I'm a girl. I want to coach in the NBA because I'm qualified." Lieberman is a frequent visitor to the commonwealth, either to return to her alma mater or to see her son at the University of Richmond. T.J. Cline is redshirting with the Spiders this season after transferring from Niagara.

heck, why not she'd probably do better than some of the bums in the league right now

February 5, 2014  08:29 AM ET

Meh.....Why not?

IIRC, she was the first woman to sign to play NBA ball (summer league)......might as well be the first woman hired (and fired) as a NBA coach.

Rather look at her than Van Gundy

February 5, 2014  08:55 AM ET

She could be a good coach but she might need to get an assistant coaching job in the NBA first.

It aint like Jason Kidd is doing well. If anything Kidd's performance will make owners leery of putting someone without assistant-ship at the post..

So - this rash of success by the Nets isn't due to the coach?

(puts down cup of sarcasm)

Makes sense.... somebody hire her already.

No thanks. Please keep the female drama in the WNBA.

LOL. U R PROLLY RIGHT.

If there's a female ballplayer that can do it, it will probably be Nancy. Her credentials speak for them self. Now if we can just get past the fact that she's a woman.

While I agree with that I think he greatest asset will be distracting the opposing player's with her beautiful behind and if she wears make up.. forget it. The other team will be a in a funk all night. I'm not a sexist or anything but I'm all for using what your momma gave ya to the best of your ability... now I can't say I didn't feel like a rock star whenever I step foot in smith college or Mount Holyoke.. it is what it is... go Nancy! Come coach the Knicks.

Why can't she just stick to the wnba? That just goes to show how much she thinks of her own gender's league. Until we create a unisex league then yeah, but till then just stay away eh? Men in a men's league already have enough drama.

It's all about the Benjamins man. WNBA doesn't pay coaches 5 or 6 million per.
