07:37 AM ET 02.05 | From wearing glasses to a beard, among other more obvious signs, Joba Chamberlain is a changed man. Not only is Chamberlain on a new team for the first time since he reached the majors, he looks completely different. Chamberlain, who debuted with the New York Yankees in 2007, signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal as a free agent with the Detroit Tigers in December. Fans and reporters at TigerFest needed to look at the name on the card to figure out who Chamberlain was as he signed autographs and high-fived young fans during the event. ... [The] biggest physical transformation for Chamberlain is the fact that he's not as big as he used to be. Chamberlain credits Tigers strength and conditioning coordinator Javair Gillett and his own personal chef, Aaron Young, for helping him lose 15-20 pounds this offseason.

Beard and glasses. Sounds more like a disguise.

Might be a good idea to have one after blowing a hold or two.

Agreed. Hopefully he'll do well in Detroit because the Tigers need an upgraded pen beyond just signing Nathan.

He was electric when he first came up. Comparable to Linsanity or Fernando-mania. The Yankees jerked him around and had no clue what to do with him. And even though I'm a Yankee fan, I hope Joba does great in Detroit. He has the talent - he just needs the right coaching and the right organization to support him.

Losing 15 pounds is not a big transformation. Most people would not notice the difference. Losing 15 pounds and converting a bunch of fat into leaner muscle would be much more noticeable. If he has done something along those lines, then we might start seeing a bunch of Yankee fans with their noses out of joint.

this means,,no more beard no more glasses and no more heavy weight,,,mean light weight and more velocity in his pitching arm!!
