07:45 AM ET 02.05 | National Signing Day, thanks to its collection of potential stars and the dreams of fan bases across the country, will always hold a fair amount of intrigue. Again Urban Meyer will stave off nerves Wednesday morning as he waits to find out whether he'll add of Southfield, Mich., to Ohio State's 2014 recruiting class. But regardless of what happens, McDowell's decision won't make or break Ohio State's class. ... "It has been and will continue to be like this every year for Ohio State as long as Urban Meyer is there," Rivals.com national recruiting expert Mike Farrell said. "This is the type of recruiting class, as it stands right now, that Ohio State needs to, and should, have continually. And they will win a national title if they continue to recruit at this level."

McDowell would be the cherry on top. There are numerous kids enrolled right now who are going to impact, especially on defense.

Now this article will upset all of the Buckeye Haters out there.

Congratulations on winning a recruiting title!
Ask Alabama how that worked out for them last year.

True good doctor but it is as much about the Jimmy and Joes than the X's & O's.

Agreed to a point, but the Rivals 247 Yahoo rankings are extremely subjective.

Example: A lineman rated as 4*, from the suburbs where he had all the strength and technique coaching money can buy ... and he's possibly reached his upside already. Is he truly a 4*?

A tall WR with all the measurables who has everyone hoping he can develop as a pass catcher. Is he truly a 4*?

One word: Coaching. There is more to winning than just strapping helmets on talented guys and lining up. If it were that easy UTx would have 5-6 more championships. We've had so many top 10 classes who were lightly coached and it didn't translate to winning.

24/7 Rankings (TOP TEN): BAMA, LSU, tOSU, FSU, TXA&M, TENN, Auburn, FLA, UGA, ND

Scout Rankings (TOP TEN): BAMA, LSU, FSU, TENN, tOSU, ND, TXA&M, FLA, Miami, Auburn

Rivals Rankings (TOP TEN): BAMA, tOSU, TENN, TXA&M, LSU, FSU, FLA, UGA, ND, Auburn

Look at all those SEC teams in the Top Ten .... I guess that the recruiting websites are in on the SEC bias to prop up the SEC.

OR ... Perhaps there is a correlation to recruiting to season rankings. Maybe the rankings are legit, based on the talent that the SEC signs every year.

Perhaps when you have so many teams in one conference landing so much of the nations top talent, its easy to see why there is so much weight to a team that can win the SEC and play for the NCG, despite one loss.

I see you've drank the sec koolaid they pumped into MO 2 years ago

fyi - Cal had the most NFL players last year

PAC had more total players in the NFL than the sec

0U had an average 12-20 class rankings that beat the everluving crap out of the team that had the highest rated classes

Oh I agree because I finally got UVerse with ESPN and I've been drinking the SEC koolaid!

Besides everyone knows if 'Bama, LSU, Tenn, Aub, aTm and Fla weren't in the SEC they couldn't recruit worth a darn.

Myopic SEC worldviews are fun!

The SEC knows you're talking about it...and it doesn't like it.

You won't find that many "SEC SEC SEC" guys. Most people (myself included) want good things for their team and horrible things to happen to their rival.

Do you think I want Bama or Florida or Georgia to win a national title just so it's in the SEC? Nope. I want UTK to win and those 3 schools to go 0-12. That is my yearly CFB desire.

That's because you're a fan of a program that's actually won a BCS championship.

Fans of schools that haven't (Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carol, Arky, Kentucky, MissSt, Missouri, Vandy and last and least Texas A&M) will claim your championship as theirs because ... that's all they can do. It was the conference, not the school, that won it. LOL

Agreed. UTx is the poster child for 4/5*'s not translating into MNC's. But conversely Bama is the poster child for 4/5*'s translating into MNC's. And even when its not an MNC yr they are in the hunt. I think at the end of the day coaching is a more important overall ingredient to success, but that having been said, it does start with talent.

As an alumnus of a University with a grand football tradition and a program mired in controversy & mismanagement for 5 years under Mike Hamilton having a 5-7 record three seasons running, I am glowing Big Orange for the news above. Yes, I do believe UTK's gridiron fortunes will rise under current AD, Dave Hart and second-year HC, Butch Jones.

FYI - An SEC team won 7 of the last 8 NCG, and came within 19 seconds of winning an 8th.
FYI - An SEC won more NCG than any conference during the BCS era
FYI - Cal finished 2-10 last year. Sounds like they need a new coach.
FYI - College football isn't about seeing which team can send the most players to the NFL, or which conference yields the most NFL talent. It's about winning at the college level.
FYI - When tOSU is ranked high, they say it's justified and point to the recruits that they have pulled in. When the SEC is ranked high, it's a bias and a conspiracy, without recognition of the recruits that sign with SEC teams.
FYI - The 4-team playoff will only serve to solidify the SEC as the strongest conference with the best teams.

Witness Jim Grobe's 11-3 Demon Deacon's ACC championship in 2006 and David Cutcliffe's 10-4 Dukies in 2013 - Capable coaches doing more with less.

I think the fact that you're from "Bubbaville, Texas" tells us everything we need to know about you.
