07:29 AM ET 02.06 | Having pitched both in Queens and the Bronx, David Cone knows a thing or two about playing in New York, and he has some advice for Alex Rodriguez: Stay away. "I would not advise (Rodriguez appearing) at this point, if I had a say in the matter," the current YES analyst said Tuesday at the Thurman Munson Awards Dinner at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan. "I don't think that's the best thing to do at this point. Judging from his last comments that he's looking forward to a year off, maybe he thinks so, too. But it remains to be seen." Cone says he likes Rodriguez personally but called the whole situation involving A-Rod "pretty ugly" and that he felt sadness for baseball. "I certainly have always been an advocate of the Players Association and I'm an advocate of Alex's right to defend himself," Cone said.

He should have added, "And I'm an advocate for sitting on the fence and not saying anything to upset anyone"!

If he shows up, Yanks players need to get in his grill and tell him to stay away because they don't need the circus.

LMAO. Well said. I'm still of the belief that Selig should have banned him for life. He had the power to so. Sure Alex would have sued and I'm in favor of that. His lawyers charge plenty. The bum deserves to pay several million dollars (more) in legal fees.
