Cowboys work out Mike Kafka

06:17 PM ET 02.06 | When Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went down with an injury at the end of last season, the team was left scrambling for options behind Kyle Orton. It became clear that the team needs to add depth under center, so they are looking to do that early in the offseason. According to reports, the Cowboys have worked out former Philadelphia Eagles back up Mike Kafka. Kafka also spent time with the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars last offseason, but he was unable to make an impact. Considering he couldn't make the cut in Jacksonville, you would have to imagine he would be a long shot to make the roster in Dallas even if he agrees to a deal.

For once FanSided seems to have it right. Then again, never put anything past JJ.

Who?

Career third-stringer.

He's been in the league four seasons but hasn't thrown a pass since 2011.

You'd be better off drafting a 7th round rookie IMO.

Upon further research, that's a bit generous.

There's a joke here about Jerry and the Cowboys being Kafkaesque. Just to early for me to find it.

Couldn't make the cut in Jacksonville??? That's one thing I'd forget to put on the resume'.

February 7, 2014  08:37 AM ET

Now Dallas needs to sign 11 other player to work for nothing.

Pretty damn sad when Blaine Gabbert sucks less than the other guys.

February 7, 2014  12:18 PM ET

Is that better or worse than being cut by the Jets ?

February 7, 2014  12:37 PM ET

Jerrah is getting way too desperate in his much older days.

Holy cow, played third string in philly behind VY, released by the PATs so they could pick up Tebow
released by Jacksonville before a game. Yea, good pickup JJ

*from wikipedia*:
Characters in a Kafkaesque setting often lack a clear course of action to escape the situation. Kafkaesque elements often appear in existential works, but the term has transcended the literary realm to apply to real-life occurrences and situations that are incomprehensibly complex, bizarre, or illogical.
