07:25 AM ET 02.07 | The Drive for Five is on for young Damian Lillard. Lillard will become the first player in NBA history to take part in five events during the All-Star festivities that run from Feb. 14-16: the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Friday night, then the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, the Sprite Slam Dunk contest on what's deemed State Farm Saturday night, and the All-Star game Sunday. ... Lillard said he's looking forward to the three-point contest more than the rest. "That's something I've always wanted to do," he said. As for the dunk contest, he's in the beginning stages of coming up with a creative way to compete with the likes of defending champion Terrence Ross (Toronto), Paul George (Indiana), John Wall (Washington), Ben McLemore (Sacramento) and Harrison Barnes (Golden State).

Good for him! Hope he excels in each event and has a great time!!

With Portland's past history of bad luck I wouldn't allow him to compete in any All Star events.

Portland can't do anything to stop it.....the league supersedes them.

Additionally, Portland's 'bad history' has nothing to do with Lillard.....unless you buy-in to all sorts of superstitious non-sense.....

The NBA needs stars and this is how they build them. No doubt he is getting a push.

In two more years you won't be able to defend him or it's a foul.

No matter what the league does, I couldn't defend him without fouling.

I hope he succeeds and I hope he doesn't attend every party also. After the all star weekend I don't want to hear the word tired from him or the organization. This is great for the fans and other teams.

Love his attitude! Give the fans what they want and don't be scared of the Slam Dunk Competition like LBJ. Just give us fans a show to remember, who cares if you win or lose the dunk contest, in the end all that matters is the Finals trophy.
