07:29 AM ET 02.07 | If Washington was looking to move second baseman Danny Espinosa, the club certainly would have some options. At least a dozen teams have inquired about [Espinosa], MLB.com has learned. But don't look for general manager Mike Rizzo to trade him any time soon. The Nats still believe in Espinosa and will not give him away simply because he is coming off a difficult season. In fact, Washington is going to give Espinosa every chance to make the club this year. Rizzo and manager Matt Williams both have said that there will be competition for the starting second-base job between Espinosa and Anthony Rendon. While nobody had said it publicly, Rendon is the leading candidate to win the job. Rendon had a quick rise to the big leagues and produced last year, hitting .265 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs in 98 games.

If Espinosa has a bad spring training the odds of him going north with the Nats are slim.

"difficult" season? More like one of the worst all time. A 27 OPS+ for pete's sake! And that was coming off a year when he lead the NL in K's. Dump him.

Let me see if I have the gist of this story correct:
A lot of teams are looking at Espinosa. I don't know which ones. Washington isn't going to trade him anyway.
Great story.

The guy has nearly 1600 ML plate appearances, BA of .230, OBP of .303, OPS+ of 89. Approaching 27 years old. If any team showed me much in a trade offer, I'd jump on it.
