04:54 PM ET 02.07 | The Cleveland Cavaliers fired general manager Chris Grant on Thursday after the hapless roster he put together over recent years got beat by what was essentially a toothless Lakers team with only four technically eligible players. With Grant gone, David Griffin has stepped up in the interim to be the general manager, but the Cavs have their eyes set on big prizes when it comes to restoring order and creating prestige in the front office. According to Sam Amico, the Cavs will ride it out with both Griffin as GM and Mike Brown as head coach, but the team is already looking as making Phil Jackson the new general manager and George Karl the new head coach.

That's an awful plan. Why try to lure two control freaks?

QUOTE(#2):

Sounds like the Cavs have a good plan to rebuild with quality people...Once they get Phil Jackson as GM, George Karl as head coach, and Lebron back as the hometown superstar, they will be back in contention for sure.

Yup...and a young Bird, McHale and Parish will be walking through the door next pushing Baby Kobe in a buggy also.

Why in hell would Phil ever work in Cleveland if he already lives in sunny SoCal, is super rich and the cherry on top is marrying Jeannie Buss and enjoying the billions from that family?

Sounds like someone in CLE is smoking some quality weed.

February 8, 2014  01:58 AM ET

Phil and Karl wouldn't dare go near the Cavs to be their coach.

Gilbert must have been on Bieber's plane.

The best chance the Cavs have of being good any time soon is to hope LeBron opts out of Miami, then Cleveland could offer him the title of player-coach-GM.

Whether he's any good at the latter two titles or not, at least he would be playing for them.

Dan should put his kid on the payroll as GM. He has been great at "winning" the draft lottery.

February 8, 2014  10:18 AM ET

No chance Phil Jackson goes to Cleveland to coach the Cavs.

February 8, 2014  05:57 PM ET

Nobody wants to live in Cleveland.

If they let him coach over the phone from LA then Phil Jackson is the man for the job.
