Steelers open to hosting Super Bowl

05:12 PM ET 02.07 | After a successful, cold-weather Super Bowl in East Rutherford, New Jersey, between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, a number of teams in cold-weather cities are beginning to fantasize about hosting a Super Bowl of their own. The Philadelphia Eagles have not been shy about their own desire, but the cross-town rival Pittsburgh Steelers are also interested in the idea. Steelers President Art Rooney II says that a Super Bowl would be great for the Steel City. While it would be nice for a small market like Pittsburgh to host the game, it likely will not be possible. Pittsburgh simply isn't big enough to host an event of that caliber and the traffic that would come from all of those looking to attend the game would be an absolute train wreck.

Insanely ridiculous.

They'd have to fix that field first. IMO it's one of the most poorly maintained playing fields in the league.

I don't buy the excuse about city size though.

348,000 Tampa, FL
306,000 Pittsburgh, PA
232,000 Glendale, AZ

Tampa has already hosted four Super Bowls. The 2008 Super Bowl was played in Glendale, AZ... so is next year's Super Bowl.

If Pittsburgh was in a warm weather city you wouldn't even hear such nonsense mentioned.

I didn't realize that cities located hundreds of miles apart were considered "cross-town" ... seriously, I know the FN interns are interns, but what's the last grade they passed ... 3rd?

"I've now been in 57 states ??? I think one left to go." If our Imperious Leader does geography like this, what can we expect from a mere intern.

Durn tootin'. Who'd want to go there in February? What do you do there? It's not a "destination city."

Toronto is a pretty good place to party and (some) Canadian women are among the most beautiful you'll ever lay eyes on.

Sounds like heaven.

(Some) Canadian women are like (the most beautiful) Swedish women in the most important ways. Worth a trip if you haven't been there, worth a return if you have.

This is a terrible idea.
