CJ2K headed toward cap casualty

07:31 AM ET 02.10 | 'Tis the season. This is the time when front offices size up rosters and decide how to build a team under the constraints of the league's salary cap. This can be tricky business, and it often forces teams to part ways with impact players for reasons that go beyond performance. ... Let's get to it: Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans. ... He still has his legs, but Johnson has become indecisive and jittery -- habits that can be picked up by running behind subpar offensive lines. Johnson has become the Rob Deer of NFL running backs: He's willing to lead the league in strikeouts if it gets him a handful of homers. The Titans are a franchise in transition. They're highly unlikely to pay $8 million to a back who averaged less than four yards per carry last season. A fresh start could work for everyone involved.

It is a foregone conclusion that CJ will be cut.

With a change of scenery and a decent offensive line he has some productive seasons left.

St. Louis could use a RB...

You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.....

February 10, 2014  08:43 AM ET

Everybody predicted this once he got paid.

seems to be the theme of the day, huh??? lol

I remember breaking down how outrageous his pay is a couple of months ago. THe guy makes about $8,000 dollars a yard or $500,000.00 per game or $125,000 .00 per hour. Raiders cheerleaders make under $5.00 and hour.

I thought he was adamant about not taking a pay cut.

The Titans will be be consulting Lorena Bobbitt on whether they should cut Mr. Johnson or not.

I know another place that could benefit from his running style...

The real Big Play guy was the agent that got him so much guaranteed money. It's over, but this one guy has crippled his team for years. And, it will still take the team a while to recover.

I'm not sure whether Fisher wants to deal with him, again.

That was what I was thinking. Dallas is a natural landing spot.

They have enough issues. They don't need a head case. Besides, they don't run the ball anyway.
