07:41 AM ET 02.10 | So long, Mike Mitchell? [Mitchell] a former five-star prospect in the Buckeyes' 2013 recruiting class, will transfer from the program, according to a report by ElevenWarriors.com. ... [Mitchell] will reportedly transfer to a program near Texas to be close to his father, who is battling health issues. Ohio State already was counting on all four freshmen linebackers in the 2014 recruiting class -- Raekwon McMillan, Kyle Berger, Sam Hubbard and Dante Booker -- to contribute. Mitchell's departure now puts more pressure on an Ohio State linebacker room that was already lacking depth and experience. Mitchell's younger brother, Mickey, is a five-star basketball prospect in the 2015 class who is currently committed to the Buckeyes. His status with Ohio State's basketball program is unknown.

I have never heard of this guy. This is yet another shot at the rating system. Our LB corp had to be one of the weakest in the 40+ yrs I have been watching Ohio State and this guy never saw the field.

What does that say?

This is why ranking H.S. players is a crap shoot. It also says why saying Alabama or LSu or whoever has the best recruiting class is a joke. Cause sometimes your 5* never see the field and leave the program before they make an impact.

I think MM was redshirted last season. Too bad the Bucks are losing him. He would,ve made an impact this season. Best wishes to him and his dad.

A 5* that couldn't get on the field.......hummm them other guys must be 6*.

Always said you can not rate kids coming out of H.S. to really mean or tell you anything .......they need to put the pads on and show it against kids that are just as talented.

Redshirted due to an ankle injury in the fall last year... 5 star guy, went to the state finals in the 100M as well as won the state title in shot put his senior year of HS... Amazing athlete and a great kid, his brother is committed to OSU's basketball team... wish him and his father well.

jesus he was a frosh that was redshirted and he is leaving due to family illness. What does any of that have to do with a rating system.

Likely landing spot for both Mike and Mickey is SMU or TCU to be close to their father.

I've heard SMU or N. Texas, also that he may take some time completly away. Wish him well wherever he lands.

Now, he didn't say anything about the score or a cutoff. Gump or better seems the de facto standard, now.
