07:42 AM ET 02.10 | What a difference a few months makes. Marcus Smart and Friends stood in the atrium of the Student Union last April as adoration and gratitude cascaded from multiple floors. Smart was coming back for his sophomore season, and OSU basketball stood taller than at any time since the Eddie Sutton heydays. Smart's OSU career was all about joy and hope. ... The Smart we've seen this season is not the Smart we saw last season. And I'm not even talking quality of play. Smart's attitude is different. There's an edge to Smart this season that is not good, from those ridiculous early season flops to his instigation of physical confrontations with opponents. The joy with which Smart played last season, a liberty almost, has been replaced by a burden.

Funny, BB9....on your game early today, I see.

I can only assume this article is coing outbecause of the altercation with the fan. I'm kind of with Smart. You don't get in someone's face like that and scream something at him and expect him not to react.

I'd have given Smart a 1 game suspension and nothing else. The only reason being that you can't have him getting into a fight with a fan, but also the small aount of punishment because he was provoked. They wouldn't let another player scream in hs face.

Exactly people expect these kids to act like professionals but then they have fans like that who have no class...but all that being said it's a good test obviously it doesn't take much to get under Smarts skin Bruce Bowen would a had a hay day playing against some one like smart

There have been other issues all season long. Kicking a chair after a foul, attitude with media etc...
This incident was just blowing the top off of the volcano. It does not help matters any they are playing like donkey dung and have gone from an elite 8 contender to a bubble team!

News out of Lubbock is Tech has also said the fan will no longer be allowed to attend games. But, he's been doing this for years and all the teams are aware of him so this isn't new. And from what I understand, the officials are usually the target of most of his barbs. They've complained to Tech about him for years.

February 10, 2014  10:44 AM ET

Obviously, we can't have a player that loses his cool, and he'll probabl be a target for even worse than that when he gets to the NBA. So, he needs to learn to keep his cool, too, regardless of a tard fan screaming at him

Fans like this are a big reason I don't attend live games as much. They take the fun out of it.
I quit taking the kids to live sporting events years ago due to all the F bombs, profanity and disrespect being shown by people sitting around me. It's one thing to be passionate, it's quite another to be disrespectful. Some people don't know the difference.

Years ago I had the opportunity to sit closer to the floor at a NBA game which was great until I heard the players' sling profanity and talk trash for 4 periods. Stupid me, I was expecting professionals. I paid $80 to hear playground smack. Is it any wonder some fans do the same? And I was COMPLETELY embarrassed by fans at a Packers/Cowboys game and I won't be paying money to experience that again.

Good post. It is a two street. Players , in the pros for sure, brought this on themselves and it has carried over to the college game. which, was never a big leap really.

He is still honeymooning......but the complaints will get louder next year. The schedule, believe it or not is harder next year that last. Still have Gump, LSU, Auburn, TAMU, Mizzou, and Georgia on the schedule. We also have non-conference with Texas Tech and Northern Illinois. Only 2 rent-a-wins....so any improvement on the 3-9 record will be difficult.

Tough spot for me because I didn't want him in the first place. Year 3 will be important for Bert the Badger.

How about you? See any **** in the armor of the Ubranator??

Funny they scramble "****". Maybe we should say chinx.

February 10, 2014  01:36 PM ET

No all is love in C-bus for the Urbinator. Big expectations for 2014 though. With games at Meatchicken, Sparty, Penn St the road will not be friendly.

Yeah, I was surprised by that....didn't even think about the slang meaning.

Funny thing is, on the Sam thread I referenced the Gay/Lesbian community and didn't get blocked.....but you still can't talk about Cal coach Sonny ****
