07:47 AM ET 02.10 | Soon, the puck will drop in Sochi, and Russia's hockey team, quite obviously, will have millions of eyes upon it -- and while goaltending doesn't appear to be an issue, the health of a legend may be. With Sergei Bobrovski and Semyon Varlamov aboard, Russian Olympic hockey coaches have no concerns between the pipes, former Soviet goaltending great Vladislav Tretiak said Monday. ... On Sunday, coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov raised concerns that team captain Pavel Datsyuk may be replaced if he is not fully fit after missing over a month with a groin injury. However, Tretiak believes the 35-year-old center feels good and will be ready for his fourth Olympic tournament. "I asked him about his health and he told me everything is fine. I talked to everybody and they are all ready and in a good mood," Tretiak said.

QUOTE(#1):

I wonder how the Wings management will feel if Datsyuk re-injures his balky groin muscle and misses significant time after the Olympics? He should have left his gear in Detroit and watched the games instead.

It matters diddly squat what Tretiak believes. What matters is what Datsyuk and his doctors believe. If he's ready to go he'll play.

-Wednesday's headline: Can Russia win gold without Datsyk?
-Thursday's headline: Can Sweden win gold without Henrik Sedin?
-Friday's headline: Will the U.S. play Canada for gold?

There! I made it easier for the interns!

Datsyuk played in the last couple of games and looked fine, his TOI was limited though, catching his wind back no doubt.

what matters also is if Wings management gets inviolved. Should make for an interesting week. You know Dwarfus loves this, and I suspect the owners, etc hate it

No football, no hockey, I woke up this morning wondering what day it was.

The Loubot heads overseas after 5 straight losses. If he plays more then 1 of Canada's first 2 games we are hooped. Canada's first big game is game 3 vs the Fins. Price better be in net for that one.

Don't be dismayed! Soon we'll have a whole week of wall-to-wall Football Draft coverage! Isn't that exciting? :-)

For a moment there you had me thinking something else. Can't get that image of the two toilets for each bathroom in Sochi out of my head.

I can see if it's for the girls, I never saw one go by herself yet in public.

I think Loupin Lou should play AGAINST Norway (as opposed to for them) and then stay in street clothes for the rest of the tourney.
