06:19 PM ET 02.10 | The Los Angeles Lakers are not hiding their desire to trade Pau Gasol, but will such a deal be available to them? It doesn't seem that way unless they want to lower their asking price. Los Angeles has reportedly thoroughly explored the idea of trading Gasol, according to Steve Kyler, but has continued to be rebuffed in their efforts. Multiple reports have suggested the Lakers are simply asking too much for Gasol and Kyler believes unless the Lakers are open to the rumored deal with the Phoenix Suns, they may not find another offer worthwhile.

The death of a once great franchise is difficult for the NBA to endure.

As a Lakers fan, I'd rather the team NOT trade Pau. or, if they do, really get a substantial haul back.

Why?

Going into the next season the team would have 2 BIG holes at C and PF. Okafor might resign cheap and be the C, but there are no PF options. While i think Kelly will be a good player, I don't think he'll be a starting level player next season.

I'd rather hope that we could convince Pau to come back cheap, rather than think of the team with Kobe, Bledsoe, Deng and two unknowns at C and PF.

What makes you think any one in their right mind would give back a "substantial haul" for a worn out Pau?

I wouldn't mind watching Pau with the Suns.... Better than the Lakers...
