07:39 AM ET 02.11 | On Thursday, Team USA will play its first game in Sochi, against Slovakia. The Americans have a roster based on balance, and their line combos on Monday displayed that. Canucks talented two-way stud Ryan Kesler was lined up at centre on what should serve as the top line with Patrick Kane and Dustin Brown, while Leafs linemates Phil Kessel and James van Riemsdyk were paired with Sharks centre Joe Pavelski. ... Forwards: Dustin Brown - Ryan Kesler - Patrick Kane ... Phil Kessel - Joe Pavelski - James van Riemsdyk ... Zach Parise - David Backes - T.J. Oshie ... Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Ryan Callahan ... Extras: Blake Wheeler, Derek Stepan ... Defence: Cam Fowler - Ryan Suter ... Ryan McDonagh - John Carlson ... Paul Martin - Kevin Shattenkirk ... Extras: Brooks Orpik, Justin Faulk.

Kessel-Pavelski-JVR is a killer line.Brown-Kesler-Kane, not so much.

Seriously! That first line is not very "balanced." Why would Dustin Brown be on the number 1 line in the Olympics? Pacioretty or Parise should be in that spot.

I agree. This is how I'd like to see them:

Line #1: Phil Kessel - Joe Pavelski - James van Riemsdyk.
Line #2: Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Patrick Kane
Line #3: Zach Parise - David Backes - T.J. Oshie .
Line #4: Dustin Brown - Ryan Kesler - Ryan Callahan

Lines 2 and 3 could be reversed.

Slug Dustin Brown should be on the fourth line at best.

"... talented two-way stud Ryan Kesler ..."

By the sounds of that description it appears Ryan is doing more than just playing hockey.

Love the old "Participant" badge . It's kind of like a 2 hour orgy conducted in a pitch black room; everyone goes home satisfied although not exactly sure how or why.
