JUCO star commits to Kansas

The Kansas men's basketball program can start making room for yet another highly touted junior college transfer in its 2008 recruiting class. Point guard Tyrone Appleton, the No. 3 overall juco prospect out of Midland (Texas) College, gave an oral commitment to the Jayhawks on Monday afternoon, according to Midland assistant coach Raymond Griffin. Appleton will join Chipola (Fla.) small forward Mario Little, the No. 1 overall juco prospect in the class, as a critical juco signee for Kansas, which will be replacing five seniors and possibly a few underclassmen this offseason. He chose KU over Kentucky, Iowa State and Texas in becoming the Jayhawks' sixth commitment. A native of Gary, Ind., Appleton committed to Virginia Tech out of high school, but failed to quality academically.

It's Not!

I was all excited when I saw "Kansas" in the headline...thinking we would receive a money shot of Mark Mangino....

Alas....I feel disappointed.

The guy couldnt qualify for Tech? Haha the kid must be an idiot.

A lot of kids don't qualify right out of high school. Which is why they have prep schools and juco's. Calling the kid an idiot is pretty low class.

I wonder if Kelvin Ramsey tried calling him?

A great place, a great school, and the right coach to help this kid turn out to be a good citizen, and good student athlete.
