Bennett talking dynasty

07:24 AM ET 02.12 | The days have passed, and Michael Bennett remains a champion. I first spoke with Michael at Super Bowl Media Day. ... Now Michael is telling me about the future of the Seahawks. A team, it should be mentioned, he's not contractually tied to beyond the 2013 season. Bennett said he was unaware of the NFL Media report that he will re-sign with Seattle, but he certainly didn't sound like a guy preparing to bolt. If the money is right, why would he want to leave a potentially historic defense? "We have the right to view ourselves as one of the best to play of all time," he said. "... And I think that us having people talk about in that same light is expected and we're not ashamed of it. We're not going to shy away from it. It's right there. Success is right there, so why not take it and want to be the best ever?"

They got a shot at it if everyone stays healthy!!!!! And Returns!

Talk is cheap. Just play.

Doesn't sound like a guy interested in joining his dysfunctional brother in Chicago either.

They did. And they destroyed the leagues #1 offense.

They would be trailblazers (no pun intended) if they could pull it off. But money has a way of keeping things like this from happening.

Left 'em looking like they'd been put through a wood chipper, too.

ahhhh...parity. The definition of which is that no team shall be allowed to continue to reap the rewards for drafting well.

So why the picture of Sherman in a story about Bennett?

And where's Mr. Peabody?

February 12, 2014  08:17 AM ET

The best of all time shouldn't lose 4 games, they also shouldn't need LOTS of ref help to even reach a Superbowl.

February 12, 2014  08:22 AM ET

Can they afford to keep everyone in place?

Not a chance. There will be casualties.

Some will jump ship for money, some will lose the drive now that they have the ring, coaches will leave for their shot at the big chair. All in all the Dynasty is harder to achieve than you might think. It's just the nature of the beast.

February 12, 2014  09:07 AM ET

Dynasty's are tough in this day and age, players want more money, other teams pillaging your FA's, coaching staff, and front office, hard to keep the team together.

February 12, 2014  09:07 AM ET

More money and salary cap will keep it from happening.

Maybe for the next 2 years. After that, not so much.

They'll have to dole out some serious green when the rookie contracts of Wilson and Sherman expire.
