Time Jerry picks another QB

07:19 AM ET 02.13 | At last check, Jerry Jones was going back to the drawing board -- from looking at the organization to his role within it. While Jerry is remaking his image, he best do a 180 on the quarterback issue. This is a sensitive area for the face of the franchise, because he doesn't want any part of QB hell. In less than two weeks, the top players in college football go to Indianapolis for the meat market that is the NFL combine, at which 19 quarterbacks are scheduled to demonstrate their ability. With Tony Romo's back suddenly "healed" and "A-OK" after two surgeries in less than eight months, plus the fact he's signed for another 50 years for $800 million -- the Cowboys can't feasibly be in the market for a Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, Tajh Boyd or Johnny Manziel. It does not mean they should ignore the rest.

Further proof that the Star-Telegram has no idea what reality is. If Jerry is remaking his image it must be invisible. He is still the same meddling, knucklehead of an owner that thinks he knows how to judge NFL talent.

It's Mac Engel, enough said.

I probably should have said the writer is Mac Engel, enough said.

What's the latest report on Romo? Or does anyone truly know, at this point?

It's whatever spin JJ wishes to toss out to the media on any given day. I'm no doctor and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn but I would think 2 back operations within a year is not a good thing for any athlete.

Apparently he is the only one in town that thinks Jerry is remaking his image. Now if he was referring to yet another face lift, then maybe he is on point. Otherwise, this is just a bunch of cowpatty.

Remaking his image? If you mean more plastic surgery, then yes. (Well played TxHeat, you beat me to it)

Getting a new QB? Not a chance.

February 13, 2014  08:51 AM ET

Behind schedule. They should've drafted a QB a couple of years ago so he could be groomed as well as challenge Romo. When you have someone waiting in the wings to replace your $%^ss you always bring your A game to the party.

When Romo is one hit away from enforced retirement (if he isn't near that already)? Maybe Jerry can bring in one of those never-was itinerants as a better backup. He'd be better off drafting.

As long as the D is giving up 600 yards a game does it really matter who the QB or the GM is?

True. The defense set records for futility this past season.

It isn't. That doesn't necessarily mean that he can't come back. Despite the SB blowout, Manning had a great season after 4 neck surgeries. But he was out of football for an entire season before he could even start that comeback with Denver, and his arm strength isn't what it used to be. I can't believe Tony is "healed" or will even be 100% by training camp.

It makes sense to draft the big defensive lineman out of ND in the first round to shore up the line, but you are dealing with Mr. Center Stage in Big D and he could trade up with the Rams and get one of those QB's mention.

Maybe not the QB...

February 13, 2014  10:24 AM ET

this is a good pot for Johnny Football to land. We all know it's time to replace Rmo

February 13, 2014  10:55 AM ET

Tony Romo = not a winner.

February 13, 2014  10:57 AM ET

Not only should Jerry out hs QB, but he should also out his own incompetent self. I mean he's not like our QB and our Jerry, two SB MVP's and two rings (Tthe Big Blue Wreckin Crew). I mean the Kaepernicks and Romo's, yeah, the ringless ones. Shutty, Kid, and I'm out pal!

I think the 'Boy fans would prefer he'd hire someone else to pick another qb

Jerrah needs to observe the Super Bowl winning franchises since the Boys won their last Lombardi in the '90s. Most of the owners aren't hogging the spotlight like he does. He needs to step aside and hire a new GM with the authority to clean house starting with the head coach. Romo will always be what he is, a stat sheet stuffer, but never a SB winning qb. It's time for America's Team to look to the future and change their identity.

Yep. Jerry picked Quincy Carter. 'Nuff said.
