07:33 AM ET 02.13 | In some respects, one could feel for Ales Hemsky. So you've been waiting months for the Olympic tournament to get underway and when the big night finally arrives you sit. And sit. And sit. That was the situation [Hemsky] faced at Bolshoy Ice Dome on Wednesday as the Czech forward waited about 31 minutes to get his first shift in the opening game against Sweden. As you might expect, he wasn't exactly thrilled about the situation. "It's hard if you don't play the first half of the game," Hemsky told me after a 4-2 loss. "I'm not used to it. I didn't sit like that for how many years, but it is what it is. I just tried to get back and just get my legs going." The veteran Edmonton Oilers winger received just two shifts and one minutes 23 second of ice time through two periods.

I hope Ales checks these boards and sees how much everybody cares. LOL

I watched Hemsky against the Devils on the 6th. He could have carried a raw egg in his pants the entire game then cook it for a post game meal. He not only doesn't check anyone, he seems to avoid contact at all costs. He's about as intense as a wet noodle. Yet he wonders why he doesn't play much in an tense environment, yikes!!

Here on FN we call that "The Kessell".

And Coach had his fingers crossed that whole minute and a half.

Coach Dallas in Edmonton would be wise to mirror this treatment of Alice.

Who needs Alice Hemsky when you have Petr Nedved?

Totally unfair and largely inaccurate.

If you feel the need to name the "unbroken egg coming out of the corner" move on anyone. please for the love of all that is holy (and the memory of Harold Ballard), call it "The Inge Hammarstrom".

The Canadian O-lame-pic team looked like an AHL squad playing Norway. Unless there is a miraculous transformation, bronze might be a little too optimistic for the Canucks. Me thinks 4th would be quite flattering.
