Broncos RB wants the ball 'every time'

07:27 AM ET 02.14 | Just how thin the running back corps in Denver gets will have a lot to say about the future of Montee Ball. It's quite possible that next season Ball will be THE Broncos running back, if Knowshon Moreno signs with another team (I can see some team splurging). I've always liked talking with Ball. ... Ball improved during his rookie campaign, but I was somewhat surprised to hear him in the Dove Valley hallway last week, when I asked about wanting the ball as much as possible, regardless of Moreno's situation. "Of course, obviously I have no idea what's going to happen with him and this organization, but I do want to be a starter, and yeah, I want the football every time," Ball said. "I think I'm going to have a great offseason, and I'm going to have a better season next year for sure."

Broncos RB wants the ball 'every time'

Ask the offensive coordinator.

Yeah, they should be going Wildcat all the time, to keep the ball out of Peyton Manning's hands. He's terrible.

Can't blame him for saying he wants the ball doesn't mean he expects to get it, it's like a scorer in the nba ya you want to take every shot you can but at the same time you understand that's not always best and wont always happen...anyways I hope he works as hard as he claims and improves could be a good young rb

Why is this columnist 'somewhat surprised' to hear Ball state that he wants to be the starter?

So Ball is a baller who wants the ball. Simple enough.

Wanting the ball on a passing team? Good luck with that.

That might be the answer!!! When a team can only run the ball for 27 yards (The SB), then it might be a good idea to go to the ""Wildcat" and throw that little 5/6 yard pass like Peyton did in the SB. Denver is going to have a hard time running the ball next year, as they have a "killer" schedule!!!

Denver better come up with a running game next season or Peyton will get eaten alive!!!!

Peyton's too smart for that. He'll dump the ball off quick; it's his receivers who will get killed.

Or he'll just toss the ball up for the opponents for a quick 6.

That's Eli.

No it's Peyton. not ELi. Did you watch the SB or past Peryton playoff games??? Peyton and Denver must face the NFC West next season, he better get ready or he will be eating turf most of his games.

Not Manning's fault he ran into a buzzsaw.

This is true, but Denver and Peyton are going to run into a few buzzsaws next season. Denver has the 2nd toughest NFL schedule next season.

50% increase in carries = a 50% increase in fumbles, Montee. That's gotta be enticing to the Broncos office.

Welker will need an even bigger helmet.
