Asking price for Rondo

06:56 AM ET 02.18 | Certainly this season, Rajon Rondo has starred in more trade speculation than games, and that speculation is not going away at the deadline. Last fall, Ainge admitted in a radio interview that in 2011, the Celtics were engaged in talks to trade Rondo for All-Star point guard Chris Paul. ... [The] chatter has been especially loud lately amid the rebuilding Celtics' wheeling and dealing. Time has passed and the circumstances might have changed, but it stands to reason that if the Celtics' asking price for Rondo is a player of Paul's caliber, then few players can match up, making it all the more unlikely that a deal like that comes along. And if a team doesn't have a player of Paul's caliber to offer, it would have to offer multiple first-round draft picks for the Celtics to even entertain a possible deal for Rondo.

Come To LA, Bro.

Are the Clippers interested in him as well?

They should ask a high price for rondo

You read the story. Rondo for Paul...

Ahhh but that was back in 2011, when Paul was with the former Hornets of NO.

I can't see why.

Chris Paul is currently at 19 points and 11 assists per game with healthy legs.

Rondo has 10 games under his belt with 10 points and 7 assists with a, still not, 100% knee.....plus he's a career 25% 3-point shooter (pretty darn pathetic).

Plus, Rondo is almost the same age as Paul....only about 9 months younger.

No advantage in this deal for the Clippers.

Let's see what Rondo can do w/o Pierce and KG before we start giving "multiple" 1st round picks........I am not high on Rondo's stock

its a fair point-
but I think that we all agree that rondo with minimal talent around him is not going to vault that team to a playoff team......

but rondo WITH talent ?
is a proven guy

so a bad team shouldn't make a play for him-
but a team with talent? they should

February 18, 2014  09:42 AM ET

The Celtics are going to be a good team in a few years. They have stockpiled picks for the next few years so that they can build through the draft or by trading for a proven player. Rondo is a player that makes bigs who can't shoot better than they are but when he gets with a big that can shoot it just opens up everything. I think only a few teams are willing to give up multiple first round picks.

Rondo, Joel Anthony & Chris Johnson for KD & Westbrook...GREAT trade for Boston.

CELTICS IN SEVEN!

building thorugh the draft isn't a lock for improvement
- rondo and green are up for new contracts after next year.

and boston isn't exactly a major FA destination

I would agree that they COULD be a good team in a few years
but it isn't a certainty

jgb...

if a current NBAer had to pick between the Celtics or the Lakers which is a better choice right now?

February 18, 2014  10:31 AM ET

Boston should just keep Rondo and build around him, Green and Sullinger.

depends what they want.
are we are purely talking basketball and winning a ring?
are we talking possible endorsement opportunities?
are we talking nicer place to live?
combo?

truth be told- I don't think boston is close to contending
rondo is a great player, green is ok- but he'll be gone
no one else on that roster excites me
The lakers obviously aren't close either-

all other factors- LA is the better choice

I agree w/ you. The Lakers will turn things around before the Celtics.

The Lakers and the Heat are the glam teams of the NBA. Most players like to show off the bling.

The way the Clippers are playing without CP3, Rondo could be the better fit. Plus LA could get a draft pick from the Celtics since CP3 is considered the better talented PG minus the ring.
