Pirates eyeing Mets' Davis

07:34 AM ET 02.19 | Pittsburgh's shopping season may not be over just yet. We know they were willing to offer A.J. Burnett $12 million, so they clearly still have money to spend. We also know they never could find a left-handed-hitting platoon partner for Gaby Sanchez at first base this winter. But clubs that have spoken with them believe they'd still like to acquire one. There doesn't seem to be much substance to rumors connecting them with free agent Kendrys Morales. But the Pirates continue to monitor Ike Davis' status in Mets camp. And when Morales and/or Nelson Cruz sign, that could result in players such as Justin Smoak or Mitch Moreland becoming available. In the meantime, GM Neal Huntington said Tuesday, the Pirates remain "confident in our internal options."

Bucs gotta do something. Gaby Sanchez is not a full-time guy.

The Mets shouldn't give up on Davis just yet.

the thing in here is,,the Pirates can't sign Morales because of the draft pick thingy,
should Morales wait untill the end of july to be signed??
that could be the right move for any team now days!!!

That would probably be the best spot for this kid, he's got to get away from Collins and Alderson and he should take Tejada with him!

The Mets have offered Davis to my Brewers all winter but they keep insisting on getting one of our better starting pitchers. If they keep expecting to get that from the Pirates, he won't be going to Pittsburgh.

I disagree. He needs a change of scenery.

Collins and Alderson are the least of his problems.....his biggest problem is hitting a baseball.....if he'd been doing that all along this wouldn't even be an issue....your so far off base on this you'd be picked off easily....

Collins and Alderson are the Mets Problem, they have developed nobody and when they get somebody they blow his arm out, everyone of their pitchers have spent a substantial amount of time on the DL, You need pitching and defense that's what wins check out the Angels!!!!!!
