07:37 AM ET 02.19 | Sure, why wouldn't Stephen Strasburg add another pitch? It started with conversations last season, when [Strasburg] asked Jordan Zimmermann and Dan Haren about they threw their slider and cutter. It evolved this offseason, when Strasburg fiddled with a grip and a release. It was unveiled Tuesday afternoon, when Strasburg rifled a slider -- a new pitch for him -- into Jose Lobaton's mitt during a bullpen session. In his fifth professional season and more than three years removed from Tommy John surgery, Strasburg has a reached a point at which he feels comfortable building off his current, considerable arsenal. Along with his fastball, curve and changeup, Strasburg is working to add a slider. "It's just a work in progress," Strasburg said. "It's something that I've been messing with."

Strasburg could win the Cy Young this year. Washington could win the Series. They'll bounce back from last year's disappointment.

After throwing 20 sliders in the bullpen..."Hey, my arm feels weird."

Yeah, right. Strasburg has never thrown over 183 innings, has one complete game and one shutout in his career. I must admit that I love watching him pitch. He has already had a better career than Joba.

He's got a lot of potential this only adds to it, he's still a young man!

It doesn't really bode well when you are in your fifth season and the word "potential" is still attached to your name.... Not a Nats an but I do like to watch good pitching, here's hoping he has a good season (except against the Jints)

Just means the surgeons are going to be "messing" with his soon to be reconstructed elbow.

Joba didn't get an astronomical contract out of the draft. Strasburg is in make or break time.

I had a chance to see him live in Fenway and it was great fun to watch him burn it in there...think he only went 5-6 innings, though.
