07:41 AM ET 02.19 | In addition to increasing Kyle Field capacity over 102,000, Texas A&M plans to pass rival Texas in more ways than one. On Tuesday in at a press conference held by A&M to give updates to the redevelopment of Kyle Field, Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp announced that the new video board that will be atop the new south endzone will be the largest in collegiate athletics. "The new scoreboard in the south endzone is projected to be the largest in collegiate athletics, almost twice the size of the scoreboard from last year," Sharp said. "You can see it in the rendering that it will be another intimidating factor in the redeveloped Kyle Field." The new 47-feet tall by 163-feet wide (7,661 square-feet) video board will top Texas' 55.5-feet by 134-feet (7,437 square-feet) video board.

Humph. So much for my going over to LED lighting and trying to help save the world by conserving power. Wonder what the electrical draw is for a monstrosity like that.

Don't try to outJones the Jerry Joneses.

Coming soon to a reality-TV channel on your overpriced cable/satellite system.

I've switched to LED lights in some fixtures as a test of both illumination and longevity ($ up front/life of bulb + cost of operation = better than the old Edison tech?). So far, so good. I hate changing the bulbs of the fixture over the kitchen sink, and nary an LED has failed during the past 2 years.

So, for today's TnR fare, we have 4 bball threads and an aggie thread. Not sure it can get much worse, but I've said that before, and been wrong.

Move to South Korea, pay less for network services, attempt to learn a new language, get into the late night scene, learn to enjoy eating highly seasoned offal on little skewers.

Bruton Smith is constructing a HD video board at Texas Motor Speedway that is 94 feet tall and 218 feet wide. That's 79% larger than Jerry Jones' video board in Cowboy's Stadium.

This is getting ridiculous!

I read the headline and had to check my underwear. Very intimidating.

That's what I was thinking, a lot of the spectators are a LOOOONG way from that screen, much farther than the far side of a foosball stadium, no matter how massive Jerrah Jones makes it.

Can you imagine standing 10 feet from that thing, and watching a men's pro tennis match? Whiplash within 9 seconds.

I remember Ags fans complaining when the big board went up in DKR. Conspiracy theories about state funding and partisan politics, trying to starve the Ags financially, etc. So now they get a big board of their own.

Have heard it said that if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
