Favre's take on Johnny Manziel

07:29 AM ET 02.20 | Brett Favre, of course, had been following the hype. He'd heard people say that the frenetic, go-for-broke, Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from Texas A&M had a whole lot of Brett Favre in his game. When he finally saw Johnny Manziel play, Favre understood the comparisons. "I haven't watched him much," Favre told USA TODAY Sports recently, "but one game I watched, for like three quarters, was the Ole Miss game." Manziel passed for 346 yards and ran for 124 more (plus two TDs) while engineering a 41-38 comeback win for the Aggies in Oxford, Miss., on Oct. 12, 2013. "I almost thought I was watching film of a young Brett Favre," said the current Favre. ... "I didn't think I did a lot of things well (in college at Southern Miss), but he did. And and I liked the attitude."

Does Johnny F also takes pictures of his junk and sends them around? Otherwise what is the similarity between him and Favre?

February 20, 2014  07:36 AM ET

They both have the "me, me, me" love for the spotlight.

Will we be hearing desperate cries for attention from Johnny Manziel long after he retires as well?

Oh please go AWAY!!!

If "Favre" is pronounced "Farrrrrve" ...
it seems only fair that "Brett" should be pronounced "Burt"

Go back in your hole, low-life

Manziel will be the most exciting football player to come into the league in a long time. His heart is as big as Favre's and his talent will show off in his first season. It took Peyton Manning years to become the best QB in the league. Not Johnny. If the Texans take him, the Texans get to the playoffs next year. If the Texans take him, they become the next 'America's Team'.

I been a NFL fanatic for 50 some years. I grew up lovng Johnny U. Then Fran T. came along. I have never been excited about Michael Vick. I liked him, but I am so excited about Manziel. He is the best thing since sliced bread. You are from Texas so you've watched him more than me and I have to respect your views. But I guarantee that you are missing something. Manzeil is the real thing. Only time will prove one of us wrong.

I 100% agree! Only a fool can discard the numbers this kid put up in the SEC. He has a huge heart, and a good team mate. If Houston doesn't draft him, someone should get fired.

I think he will have a difficult time transitioning to the NFL. Plays he got away with in college will end up with him getting planted in the backfield.

Favre could take a hit. country tough. Manziel is not the same. He is going to get ear holed doing his thing. Favre he ain't. Lots of QBs in this draft but that don't mean a one of em is worth going to the bank for....

50... You don't survive in the sec putting up this kid's running yardage, without being "country tough". It's in him.... Watch.
