Little sense to Mattingly's platoon chatter

07:35 AM ET 02.20 | So, all of a sudden, Don Mattingly likes platoons? Right, and Chris Christie is crazy about the George Washington Bridge. But before you worry Mattingly has gone all Billy Beane on you, understand spring is about possibilities and managers get asked about a lot of them, few of which they're willing to take off the table. Particularly in February. So if Mattingly is asked whether he could foresee a scenario where rookie Alex Guerrero platoons at second base, what is he supposed to say? Sure it's possible. ... The trouble with platooning at second base is he really has no strong left-handed complement to the right-handed-hitting Guerrero. The only left-hander is Dee Gordon, which is a problem, because like Guerrero he has being converted from shortstop.

The Dodgers have a load of talent, but still a few questions remain. Still, that rotation should lead LA to the playoffs again, and they are a threat to overtake my Cardinals.

little sense of humor,,just wait for the big boss when he does see the ugly numbers in dodgers division,,,something is about to change!!

You need some good quality depth on your team to utilize a good platoon. When you have so much money tied into all these big name guys it makes it tough to build that kind of depth. The platoon is such a great weapon when you have the players to do it with because you are always putting your players in the best chances to succeed.

I doubt that since three of them have a history of injuries. Most managers would love to have the problem of too many quality outfielders. I think the GM s insane; but the manager doesn't have a problem when he has 4 highly paid, high quality outfielders. He's got it made.
