09:35 AM ET 02.22 | Two days after he returned from the Sochi Olympics, Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg has undergone surgery. General manager Ken Holland said that Zetterberg "will be out seven to eight weeks, then he will be re-evaluated." The recovery time pushes Zetterberg past the Wings' regular-season finale on April 13. Holland said maybe Zetterberg can return to practice after the 7-8 weeks, but it hinges on the re-evaluation. There's no guarantee that he will return for the playoffs, even if the Wings make a deep run.

We will miss our two big go to guys: Big Z and Dats. Not sure how much help Datsyuk is going to be even if he does play. Do we have enough to make the playoffs? It'll be tough.

If we do make the playoffs it'll mean the kids have come of age.

There you go... If you take anything away from all this it's that the kids get the chance to keep on developing.

And - the right guy is in place to manage that.

I couldn't decide what to have with my coffee this morning but thanks to watching Staypuft I've decided on a turnover.

Not to be a presumptuous arse, but this does pretty much guarantee most of our Leaf playoff elimination dates will be wrong.
