11:18 AM ET 02.23 | Nicklas Backstrom missed out on the Olympics gold medal game against Canada. Sweden's national Olympic committee confirms that the center forward star has tested positive for a banned substance. First sources told that Backstrom missed out on the finals due to migraine. Later Sweden's national Olympic committee confirmed that the Washington center had failed a doping test. That's correct. We know it's because of an allergy medicine he has been using for seven years, press officer Bjorn Folin told SportExpressen.se. We don't know when the test was made. We haven't been speaking to Backstrom yet. I don't have any more information, Folin said.

His grandmas really gonna be pissed now.

No doubt, and all of Sweden is going to hear about it. Great win for Canada, all the talk before the Olympics was about offence and questionable goaltending. In the end it was really all about a smothering defence and everyone buying into the system.

Canada, the only country that changes it's liquor laws for a hockey game. The bars were packed at 07:00, with beer flowing!!!

I hope Subban learned something about being responsible in your end with the puck.
I had to laugh when he got one of the biggest cheers when the medals were being handed out.

I hear meth (a derivative of Sudafed) works great for clearing sinuses and allergies. ;-)

Absolutely would have agreed with Lundqvist prior to the semi final and gold medal game. He let in 1 in a winning effort in the semi then got clobbered in the gold medal game. Price notched two shut-outs. I have to give Price the nod.

I also would have agreed with Kessel had he not drifted off to sleep when the games mattered most. He was an animal prior to that.

Yes they would have gone through the Olympics like the old days when they sent club teams and outscored their opponents like the Conn Smythe led Toronto Grads who outscored their opponents 32-0

Three cheers for Babs! Now ..... can he work a miracle in Detroit? We'll need it to make the playoffs ... even with Monster in net. :-(

I would have had Grabner there instead of Staypuf myself
