07:29 AM ET 02.24 | Considering the head coach, Glen Davis in Los Angeles makes a good amount of sense. Clippers coach Doc Rivers was hoping to sign Davis, who played for Rivers with the Boston Celtics from 2007 to 2011, winning a championship in 2008. Davis would be the only player on the Clippers roster to have won an NBA title. "It's not official yet but hopefully it will be," Rivers said Sunday. ... The Clippers will be en route to New Orleans to play the Pelicans on Monday after playing the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday when Davis clears waivers. Rivers was coy but smiled when asked about Davis possibly joining the team as early as Monday. "I've heard of him," Rivers said when asked about Davis. "We call him Baby Baby. ... Whatever happens happens soon. I have a hunch."

Look at that shooting form!!!! Exhibit A - why short guys with even shorter arms don't make great power forwards.

I like the move....
He is going to help them as they really had no depth up front

February 24, 2014  08:46 AM ET

Mecca will be happy. Great move by the Clipps.

I think what they lack is a perimeter defense so I was hoping they get Shump. I can't see them getting past OKC with their current line up. KD and Westbrook will tear them apart.

He was playing Center against 7'2" Hibbert there. Everyone's arms look short against a 7'2" center, lol. Big Baby had to play Center because Howard hurt his back that season. He still managed to put up a 20 pt, 10 rebound average in that playoff series against Hibbert. Nothing to sneeze at.

I am not a fan of Big Baby............but he will help in giving DJ and BG a rest every now and then.

Also, would love for Philly to cut Granger and Clipps take a run at him as well.......

Big Baby is like 6' 9" and is huge 270 or so pounds and has quick feet ok jumper will be a solid role player. The Clippers had no useful bigs

^^ off the bench of course

Better than picking up Dwight Howard and then having him walk away a year later and get nothing back....bro.

they are weak in that regard-
but if they can man the paint...it can shore up the perimeter as the guys won't be able to get to the hole

Yeah... but at this point I don't think Glen Davis can make a difference at the championship level.

He's just another item in Doc's toolbox. There will be some matchups where you need to keep guys away from the basket and defend the post. Davis is 6'9" and 280+ pounds and he plays physical. He won't start but it's like Oden in Miami. They will matter in key spots in the playoffs.

But, the only ligitimate "big" to come off the bench for the Clipps is Ryan Hollins, yes Ryan Hollins...you don't think BB won't make a difference?

February 24, 2014  11:09 AM ET

i think BB would be a very good signing for somewhere near the veteran minimum if they bring him off the bench and he knows his role and is ok with not rocking the ship if he is not getting enough shots

This would be a great pick up for the Clippers. Doc needs another big body inside and a back up Blake. Big Baby knows Doc's system and has won a championship under Doc Rivers. The biggest problem with the Clippers make that the two biggest problems with them are as follows. Interior defense in the paint. When DJ or Blake's man screens for the guards or a big like KD at the top of the key they lose sight of their man rolling back to the paint for an easy pass and bucket. Second, Blake has a good outside jump shot and he must use it to lure physical goons who play dirty Ibaka, Randolph, and Bogut outside. Then he can use his power and quickness to get to the basket instead of staying in the paint to be pushed around and beat up on. This would cut down on his charging fouls and get players like them in foul trouble. Write this down all you Clippers haters. If the Clippers focus and correct their interior defensive problems they will win the west. Yeah I said it !

I'm with you. Doc has them playing at a very high level now and they are still improving. They are a legitimate threat in the West this year.

I agree. I also like the guy Philly waived Earl Clark. If they can pull that off Big Baby and Big Earl the Clippers can win the west. Blake was and DJ were tired as hell last night you could see it in their body language but they persevered.

Earl Clark can play well in certain situations. A guy like Doc Rivers knows how to get the best out of players and use them correctly. That's the key to being a great coach. Knowing where guys fit and putting them in a position to succeed. DeAndre Jordan is leading the league in rebounds and all of his numbers are up this year because Doc knows how to use him best.

So yeah that would be a helpful pickup for the Clippers if they managed to do it.

I am not sure they can correct their defense paint issues this year. They lack a certain awareness protecting the paint. Blake is not that great at help defense. The formula to beat them is to rough up Blake to take him out of the game mentally and physically. Griffin has been getting roughed up by OKC, GSW, and Memphis because they allow it. Then it becomes a perimeter game. Clippers perimeter defense overall is bad as well.
