End in Buffalo near for key Sabre

07:41 AM ET 02.24 | In some ways, Steve Ott is the heart -- and the voice, too -- of the Buffalo dressing room. "He just goes out there and gets his nose dirty," teammate John Scott said. ... Coach Ted Nolan routinely praises Ott's leadership, and management is also fond of Ott. The captain enjoys Buffalo. Despite the mutual admiration, a breakup borders on inevitable. The NHL's Olympic trade freeze is over, which means Ott is back on the block. The pending unrestricted free agent could be a highly coveted player because of his leadership skills and playoff experience. The last-place Sabres are in the midst of a major rebuild, and it would be folly to turn down asset-laden offers. Ott said Sunday he and the Sabres have not discussed a contract extension, so he could be entering his last 10-day stretch in Buffalo.

Could be, Might be, a possibility. Every free agent is in the same boat. I think that there I only one story today

Should he stay, or should he go? Of course, he Ott-a go, and keep on-a-going.

Ha! Nice!

Funny how a key piece is Ott......the rest left, and the others watched as Miller didnt do much during the last two weeks. I guess he wasn't Americas hope this time?

Why do they keep saying St,Louis for Miller? The Blues are already in good shape....I don't get it.

That would've been a bonus for Miller ... if he was on a playoff bound team.

He helped take that team apart IMO. You only have so much play with teammates before they look at you like an idiot.

I used to like him.....then Lucic hit a goalie named Miller and all hell broke out in Buffalo's dressing room as he called out and threw his teammates under the bus. Now....he's still a decent net minder, but I'd take Quick anyday over him! Way better goalie and reminds me of Hasek in that he can win games 2-1 or 1-0 and has been doing it for awhile.

Don't know what happened with Finland, if it was Quick it was an off night.......but then again I think after the gold medal match between Canada and the states the states lost hope. Kessel was playing great, but where was Kane?

Vanek left, and the best hope on this team is.......Ted Nolan. Great coach....ask Latvia!
