Love apologizes to Bruins

Without offering an absolute explanation for what he called his "low energy level," UCLA freshman Kevin Love promised he would not have another game in which his enthusiasm and focus seemed away from basketball, alluding to UCLA's victory over Oregon last Saturday. Love said he talked with Bruins Coach Ben Howland and with his family afterward. "It wasn't that I had a bad attitude," Love said. "It was just one of those games where I was out of it and I have to apologize to the team about that because I shouldn't let my actions affect my team. Another game like that is not going to happen. It's not fair to me, not fair to my teammates, not fair to my coaches and not fair to fans."

February 27, 2008  12:07 PM ET

God we're gonna hate to see him go pro :(

February 27, 2008  12:08 PM ET

I just hate that the LAKERS won't get to add such a quality person & athlete to the team. And pelase avoid the Atlanta Hawks or LA Clippers. Now, I have said something rally nice about a Bruin, that was tough.

February 27, 2008  12:21 PM ET

Love......oh my god.....what a bunch of politically correct b/s.......im sorry
who cares if you had a bad game....didn't they win ne ways.....pathetic....

"It wasn't that I had a bad attitude," Love said. "It's that I had a skull-rattling, seizure-inducing hangover and still had not gone to bed from the night before by the time tip-off rolled around. I promise it won't happen again. Even though it probably will."

Love is a good kid. imaging if he had the intensity of Hansborough he would be a beast.

February 27, 2008  02:11 PM ET

If he had the intensity of Hansborough???.... I am not a ucla fan... But have seen alot of their games... Can't say I have seen a lack of inensity on this guy... Not to mention his overall game is better than any other big man in the country... Doesn't look like his future has much of a ceiling

Imagine if Psycho-T had Love's skill level?

Watched him play live this year. Absolute beast on the glass... will be a great pro.
My one memory from the game...

"Love has butt sweat" chant

A lot of the best teams are having trouble bringing it on a nightly basis. Final Four favorites like UCLA, UNC, and Kansas have all been very lethargic recently. Perhaps the season is too long? Only a few more games till they count again.

February 27, 2008  03:50 PM ET

This guy is good.. But needs more seasoning in college.. Dont go pro.

February 27, 2008  04:42 PM ET

the kid still has mad skills.
and he must be humble as well.
he is more then a lottery pick,
he's a leader.

February 27, 2008  05:59 PM ET

I hope he isn't one of those guys who always puts the blame on his shoulder. They get annoying...

February 27, 2008  08:32 PM ET

Love is the man! He admits that he had one game that he wasn't completely into it and what does he do?? He has 15 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes!! Hansborogh may be psycho but he doesn't have the all around game that Love has and Love is a 271 lb beast. I'm PRAYING that UCLA plays North Carolina.

This is a nephew of Beach Boy Mike Love... As in related to Brian Wilson. As in Bipolar disorder. Kevin Love? Maybe , maybe not. Probably not. Why did I even bring this up? I am Ichiro.
I am from Japan.
