'Canes at a crossroads

07:44 AM ET 02.25 | By the time the Hurricanes return to home ice on March 7, their playoff fate may already have been decided. With 25 games to play, the Hurricanes resume the schedule with a five-game, continent-spanning road trip that looms as particularly pivotal. It's long, difficult, grueling and, potentially, season-deciding. Maybe more than that. Given the absolute imperative that the Hurricanes end their four-year playoff drought this season, and the potential consequences for the roster and the front office if they fail, it may not be hyperbole to say these five games could go a long way toward determining the future of the franchise. "I don't think it's productive to view things in that scope," Hurricanes defenseman Jay Harrison said. "It gets a little too macroscopic."

I'm kind of thinking the Slats would go for Semin and Hansey and a 1st round pick for M Staal and Callahan.

The Rangers are t best a middle of the road team scoring wise. They need Staal, Girardi and McDonough on the ice as much posible once the playoffs begin to help Henrik keep the other team off the board.
